Today I’m feeling thankful for the bucket fillers in my life who motivate me to be a better person. You know the people I’m talking about. They’re positive and encouraging. They live their best lives and help you do the same just by being around them.
My bucket was filled several times this week as I got to spend time reconnecting with colleagues and friends at two different annual conferences. Though I see some of these individuals only once or twice a year, the quality of our interactions leaves lasting impressions, all the same. I always walk away feeling uplifted, encouraged and optimistic about what is to come.
Have you ever heard the phrase, “awareness leads to choice”? It is the idea that once we are made aware of something, we can then choose a course accordingly. Conversely, if we are unaware of something, we are powerless to do anything to effect change around it.
For me, the lesson here is simple. I want to do a better job of looking for and becoming aware of my bucket fillers. I also need to make conscious choices to surround myself with these individuals rather than inadvertently feeding and attending to the unhealthy relationships in my life. Thank your bucket fillers today. They make the world a better place.
